Title: 《unsound dresser : 化粧箱、鳴ラナイ》

Tsu-tsu has coined the term “documentary acting” for his technique that involves interviewing real-life people and researching real incidents, the sequence of which are then played out in his performances. Reflecting his training in Japanese dance since childhood, his name derives from the physical sensation of tsu-tsu [vessel, barrel] whereby his body becomes the vessel through which he transforms into the characters he plays. For Fuji Textile Week 2023, Tsu-tsu plans a performance based on the tale of Mt. Fuji and the Golden Princess’s cloth; a legend that has been passed down through generations in Fujiyoshida city. With video footages and installations, he will create a site-specific environment for his performance. In addition, an audio-guide-like work will also be made from the narratives told by the residents of the city. These are the artist’s attempt at creating the opportunity for visitors to encounter the accumulated memories of the residents as they wander through the city streets.
